Rob Harden has been a member of the Moose Jaw Camera Club executive since last September.
Rob is never shy about sharing: “Photography has been a passion of mine since I was in high school.” He started out using Pentax cameras and lenses when he was shooting film.
In 2003 Harden started his own business, Prairie Magic Digital Photography. He specializes in capturing weddings, graduations, reunions, and sporting events.
Embracing the sports genre Harden focuses primarily on swimming events. This specialization is primarily due to the fact that his nephew was a two time Olympic athlete in swimming.
Harden readily admits: “My sports photography would not happen without the strong support from my wife Pat and brother-in law Len. Their help at the swim meets we cover is invaluable and makes “it” happen.”
In June 2012 Rob retired from the City of Moose Jaw as transit driver after 38 years of service. Since then photography has become an even stronger focus. Carrying and operating a camera comes to Rob like driving and performing every day tasks around the house. He loves to photograph weddings: “They are always fun to shoot as it is the couple’s special day and everyone is having a good time!” In contrast to the skill of organizing a wedding party charged with emotion and guests of all ages that are sometimes difficult to direct, Harden particularly loves candid people shots. He continually strives to capture that special moment in time. Harden’s personal philosophy sums it up perfectly: “Photography is trying to capture that magic moment in time.”
Thank you Rob for contributing to the weekly feature!
