The sun was hiding behind a heavy cloud cover, the snow was blowing across the highway and the wind was howling… but the drive into Moose wasn’t too bad last evening.

A big hand of applause and thank you was extended to Byron Crabbe for his captivating presentation of his 2013 Photo Safari through Tanzania. The membership in attendance was treated to an array of stunning imagery of landscape, bird and mammals, including the Big 5!
Thanks to Pat Harden and Colin Hergert for looking after the welcome table. Volunteers needed for manning the welcome table at meetings – We are always looking for other members to take a turn.
Our new projector has arrived. The “old” projector (three years old and only used at meetings) is for sale. We are asking $ 200 o. b. o.. Email Vaughn if you are interested.

Retreat Registration are coming in. Remember, April 15th is the deadline to register. If we do not fill the 15 spots for the workshop with Brian Easton we will open registration to the general public. FoW Meeting, Feb. 15th report: excellent turn out 11 members attended and signed out books.Feel free to visit the FoW office to sign out a book or two you would like to read and use as inspiration for the upcoming July exhibition. Follow up meeting scheduled for later in April.

NEW*NEW*NEW for Active Camera Club Members
Special interest groups Nikon, Canon, Pentax and point and shoot/smartphones: The executive identified a need for once a month casual meetings to discuss cameras, settings and general photographic interests to better understand one’s camera. We are proposing get-togethers in various coffee shops in MJ for the various camera models.
The first gathering is set for Sunday, March 19th – 2- 4 pm.

Point-and-Shoot/Bridge models/smart phones @ Crysalis
Keeping these gatherings in close proximity will enable club members to visit back and forth and drop in on other groups.
There is no formal agenda and no designated leader for the groups. This is strictly member driven.
Miksang Workshop with John McQuade, May 6th & 7th weekend. Regular Miksang group participants had first dibs at signing up. 15 spots have been filled – a waiting list is in effect now. PRPA Spring Competitions: Please refer to the post on competitions here. Gerry Fish prints must be dropped off at Rob Harden’s place . Deadline March 20th.
CAPA Spring Competitions: There has been no interest in these competitions. with CAPA rules constantly under revision the MJCC executive has discussed the value of membership in this Canadian Organization. It has been decided not to renew the club membership.
Anyone interested in joining the executive for 2017/18 check out our next executive meeting at Carol’s on Tuesday, March 28th at 4:30 pm. If you are interested in making your ideas heard and contribute to the MJCC’s future this is your chance! We look forward to answering your questions.
Jeff Shilling had prepared a Hands on activity on Flash photography. Unfortunately Jeff was called away on a family emergency. Here is the Flash Info Sheet he prepared for our reference. Jeff will present this info at a later date and answer any questions you may have.
