The summer of 2016 was filled with great idea exchanges between members of the executive. Most likely one of the most important proposals was that of establishing an educational scholarship. The decision was in favor of such a scholarship fund! Here are the details:
One of the Moose Jaw Camera Club’s primary mandates is education.
The Moose Jaw Camera Club has establish a scholarship fund for members in good standing and with at least two continuous years of membership in our club.
The number of scholarships awarded will depend on our club’s membership numbers:
1 scholarship of $ 150 if the membership runs up to 50 members, and 51 members and up 2 scholarships will be made available. It is our hope that with the membership growing, more than one scholarship will boost interest for new photographers to join.
Who is eligible?
All members in good standing who have been active members for 2 or more years may apply for a scholarship.
What may the scholarship by applied to?
Any workshop offered within or outside of the club. The full amount must be applied to workshop fees (accommodation and travel is the responsibility of the participant). Unused funds will be returned to the club.
An application form is supplied by the club below. The applicant will fill in the necessary information for submission to the selection committee. The selection committee will be comprised of at least one executive member and up to two members from the general membership. Applicants’ names will not be made public until applicant is successful in obtaining a scholarship.
What’s the catch or better: Your gift back to the club?
The successful applicant agrees to either submit an article about the workshop with photos to be published on the website – or – prepare a presentation for a regular club meeting to be shared with the general membership.
The Scholarship(s) will be awarded every spring and may be retroactive if a member decides to apply after taking a workshop during the club year.
The application form below must be completed and submitted to the president by March 31st of each year to be considered for the scholarship. The applicant agrees to present or write an article on the workshop within the following club year. (September through May)
